Jesper DupontThe modern jazz crooner"...The actor with the vocal potential can indeed be seen as an unpolished counterpart to Bublé and Cullum. Dupont’s debut album is excellent, catchy and cool...". That was what Gaffa, the leading Danish music magazine, wrote about the modern crooner Jesper Dupont when his debut album FLY HIGH was released in 2010 1. FLY HIGH is a cool and groovy pop-jazz album full of New York atmosphere. The album contains 13 of his own compositions where he curiously blends jazz with pop, rock, blues, and soul. The dynamic sound is at the same time classic and modern and the music ranges from the swinging, soul-filled, and funky tunes to the intimate and melancholy ballads. The album was very well received in Denmark with great reviews and airplay on the national Danish Radio broadcast, and it is not difficult to hear that he finds inspiration in crooner legends like Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, and Ray Charles. Jesper Dupont’s career in music began long before his debut album, though. He was born in Denmark in 1981 and already from an early age, theatre and music became a large part of his life. During the last ten years, he has performed as a singer in various musical constellations and appeared in numerous plays and musicals as well as on radio, television and film. In the summer 2010 he graduated from The National Danish Theatre School, and he has since appeared in plays on both Det Kongelige Teater and Aarhus Teater. At the latter he is to be found among the permanent company from June 2011. “…Jesper Dupont's voice is elegant, relaxed, cool. It is just in the wake of the models Sinatra and Cole ... " (Fyens Stiftstidende) Jesper Dupont can be experienced live either as a soloist, with his trio - some of the North’s greatest young jazz musicians: Magnus Hjorth (piano), Kasper Tagel (bass), and Snorre Kirk (drums) - or accompanied by big bands.
